COVID Closure Notice to Parents

Dear DPDC Parents:

I trust that this letter finds you and your family healthy. We are certainly excited to see your children’s smiling faces again. We are excited to kick off another school year, with kids in the center. We have been operating at full capacity this summer and have been learning how to further navigate COVID and reduce the potential exposure and closure possibilities moving forward.

For kids receiving special education services, please see the 2020 DPDC Family Reopening Plan (Spanish Version) for services moving forward. Please know this is a living document, it is subject to change at any time due to further directives from the state.

For kids receiving child care and in person preschool services, we are open as usual. Our "new" usual includes daily health checks for families, children and staff. If anyone in the household is exhibiting COVID symptoms, you are requested to not come to the facility until you have checked with your medical professional. Children exhibiting symptoms will be removed from the classroom and taken to the COVID Quarantine room to be picked up immediately. Children are not able to return to DPDC until a medical professional provides documentation that they are able to return. Daily mask use by all adults entering the facility and for kids over 2 is required. We are encouraging the children to wear their masks in all situations where they cannot distance within our building. Children and staff are required to wash hands as soon as they enter the building.

Finally, for families who are essential services personnel, if your child's classroom is required to quarantine due to a  positive COVID case, we can accommodate your children in our quarantine room for the duration of the quarantine. We are working hard to serve our families to the best of our abilities and have worked with the County for approval to provide this service.

As a reminder, here are the categories for those personnel who are considered “essential”:
  1. Staff and providers of childcare and education services, including custodial and kitchen staff and other support staff, who do not do their work remotely;
  2. Providers of healthcare including, but not limited to, employees of clinics, hospitals, nursing homes, long-term care and post-acute care facilities, respite houses, designated agencies, emergency medical services, as well as necessary custodial, kitchen, administrative, and other support staff;
  3. Criminal justice personnel including those in law enforcement, courts, and correctional services;
  4. Public health employees;
  5. Firefighters, Wyoming National Guard personnel called to duty for responding to COVID-19, and other first responders;
  6. State employees determined to be essential for response to the COVID-19 crisis;
  7. Active duty military staff;
  8. Pharmacy staff;
  9. Foster families with children through grade 8;
  10. 2-1-1 and 9-1-1 call center staff; critical infrastructure and utility workers, including electrical, plumbing, telecommunications, water, and wastewater operators, workers, and staff;
  11. State, municipal, and commercial public works and sanitation crews;
  12. Grocery and food supply workers;
  13. Supply chain, postal, and delivery drivers and warehouse workers;
  14. Manufacturers of medical devices, equipment, testing equipment, and supplies;
  15. Fuel distribution workers.

Thank you for your continued support and understanding. We will continue to update as new information comes available.

Sincerely,

Jaime R. Stine

Developmental Preschool & Day Care Center

Developmental Preschool and Day Care Center is a private, non-profit organization, which provides child care, preschool, special  education, and related therapeutic services to young children and their families in Albany County.  Established in 1976, Developmental Preschool has served the Laramie community with quality child care and preschool services nearly four decades and continues to be a leader in caring for children with all abilities. The child care and preschool component is licensed by the Wyoming Department of Family Services to provide care for children from birth through 12 years old with full and part time care. As a non-profit, we are one of the only child care facilities in Laramie to offer sliding fee scales for low-income families.

Services to children with developmental delays or disabilities, birth to five years of age, include evaluation, special education instruction, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy, social emotional support, and inclusion in a regular classroom with their peers.  Early intervention services are provided to eligible children at no cost to the family.

Developmental Preschool and Day Care is dedicated to providing quality preschool experiences and early intervention for children with differing abilities in a playful learning environment. Developmental Preschool and Day Care Center is an equal opportunity employer and provider.
